BEAUTY CONFESSIONS: CHARLOTTE TILBURY Make-Up Artist

Charlotte Tilbery has been called the world’s number 1 make-up artist and it’s a fitting title. Her work has been featured on the cover of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure and W just to name a few. She’s the only make-up artist to have done the September cover issues of three editions of Vogue (British, French and American) all in the same year!

Her celebrity clients include Kim Kardashian, Gisele, Blake Lively, Rihanna and Penelope Cruz. She’s also the go-to make-up artist for fashion week (New York, London, Milan and Paris) having done an impressive 42 shows in one season.

After years of clients asking, even begging, her for some of her custom blend products and colors, Tilbury decided to share her best-kept make-up and skincare creations with the rest of the world when she launched her own beauty line in 2013. It reached the US shores this past fall and has been a runaway success.

I had the lovely task of interviewing her for the Chicago Tribune (Click here to read the full article) at the launch of her collaboration with iconic fashion photographer Norman Parkinson and I snuck in a few questions for Fashion Junkie.

BYE BYE SKINNY JEANS!

And hello Flares!

So glad we’re seeing the end of the low-waisted skinny jeans. After reigning for over a decade, this silhouette now feels very dated. High-waisted flares and wide leg feels more contemporary fresh. It also elongates your legs, making you look taller and leaner while the high waist emphasizes the smallest part of your torso. It’s perfect for the current 70’s revival and as LOFT Fashion Director, Amanda Kraemer, told me “works for every body type!”
