SHOPPING SPLURGES

I haven’t updated this in a long time as I was worried my husband would see how much shopping I’ve been doing and that’s something I obviously don’t want.

When we moved from London to Chicago I got rid of many items as I didn’t think it was worth shipping anything high street. I did however keep all my designer pieces. So I need to start again with my Spring/Summer basics, for example I don’t have any shorts or white jeans.

I’ve also noticed that my style has changed recently perhaps because I’m getting older? In my late 20s I wore lots of Marc by Marc Jacobs because I loved it’s quirkiness. Now in my early 30s I’ve gone for a slightly more sophisticated look in terms of fabrics and colors but still having interesting tailored cuts. I’m so in LOVE with 3.1 Phillip Lim, Celine, Elizabeth & James and Helmut lang.

With the weather finally starting to get warmer I decided it was time to start shopping. Here is my list of recent purchases:

Diana Von Furstenberg wrap dress; my first one and it looks so sexy
Diana Von Furstenberg chiffon summer dress

3.1 Phillip Lim black flat-front skinny pants
3.1 Phillip Lim nude sheer striped top
and.....

J BrandAspen’ Mid-Rise Skinny Ankle white Jeans

J Brand ‘Love Story’ flare leg white jeans

Rebecca Taylor silk summer dress in melon

Michael Kors patent nude ballet flat; everyone should have a pair

3.1 Phillip Lim Double Breasted Pea Coat with Trompe l'Oeil Collar & Cuffs
The leather collar and cuffs are removable to create a classic pea coat

Elizabeth and James mini dress

Next week my WISH LIST.....even with all this I still have a list of items I NEED to buy!

Addiction thirty-seven: THE NUDE HEEL

The ONE item you must have this season is the nude heel. They replace the black heel as the classic shoe that goes with everything, it will keep your look fresh and modern. A black shoe not only looks wintery but feels old fashioned. If you saw the royal wedding last month you would have seen most guests in nude heels.

Don’t be afraid to invest in a fabulous pair as this isn’t a passing trend, nude is here to stay. Like black, nude will go with all colors but unlike a black it will make your legs look longer, BONUS! There is so much out there to chose from you’ll be sure to find a pair to suit you whether it’s a kitten heel, open toe, slingback or a sky scrapper.

Here are a few of my favorite patent pairs...

Christian Louboutin at Net-A-Porter.com, $595

Sam Edelman, $114.95

Steven Madden, $79.95

Jimmy Choo, $750

Franco Sarto at Nordstrom, $89.95

Addiction thirty-six: THE ROYAL WEDDING part two

Part two: The BEST and Worst dressed guests

BEST….

The Beckhams looked super stylish as usual with Victoria in one of her own dresses, Louboutin heels and a hat by Philip Treacy. David Beckham wore a morning suit by Ralph Lauren.

Carole Middleton, Kate’s mother, wore a gorgeous and elegant wool crepe coat and dress by Catherine Walker with a hat by Jane Corbett. I loved the bold shoulders!

Sophie Wessex, looked amazingly elegant and stylish in her elaborately embroidered Bruce Oldfield suit and Jane Taylor fascinator.

WORST....

Royal cousins Princess Beatrice of York (the Fergie lookalike) wore an elegant Valentino Haute Couture dress and coat but went a bit crazy with her Philip Treacy fascinator and dark eye make-up.

Her sister Princess Eugenie of York (Prince Andrew lookalike) wore an ill-fitted and unattractive Vivienne Westwood dress. Her fascinator also by Philip Treacy could have been stylish with a completely different outfit.

British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was dressed head-to-toe in one color, big fashion faux pas! This is such an old fashioned style. The gorgeous blue was overdone with all her accessories in exactly same shade. The dress was by Deborah Milner, fascinator by Stephen Jones and heels by Nicholas Kirkwood.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden also had the same problem with her entire outfit in only one color. Dress by Elie Saab.

Chelsy Davy, Harry’s on and off again girlfriend wore an ill-fitted Alberta Ferretti jacket, it just made her chest look frumpy. Fascinator by Victoria Grant.

Anne, The Princess Royal just looked ridiculous no need to say more.
